From the Animal Services Officer

Sea Mammal Rescue Team

On October 26, 2003 I was invited to become a volunteer for the New England Aquarium Sea Mammal Rescue Team. I attended a 9 hour training session. I can be called by the Aquarium upon reports of sea mammals stranded upon our coast up through the coast of New Hampshire. The aquarium provides the training and volunteers are asked to provide their own Immediate Response Kit. This could cost well over $100 to be put together. If anyone in our community or the surrounding cities and towns have an appreciation of natural resources I would greatly appreciate contributions to help purchase the need equipment or you can e- mail me to ask for items needed in the rescue kit that you might be able to donate. Jlindley@ci.beverly.ma.us.

Please note all possible strandings of sea mammals should be phoned in to the NEAQ. Hot line (617) 973-5247 (this phone manned 24hrs 7 days a week.)
