Northeast Animal Shelter - Grand Opening Celebration Sunday, June 29th

The Northeast Animal Shelter is moving to a new home at 347 Highland Avenue in Salem, and they'd like you to help them celebrate. They're having a Grand Opening on Saturday, June 29th, from 11 AM to 5 PM.

There will be shelter tours, a silent auction, "Ask The Vet" and "Ask The Trainer" opportunities, training demonstrations, face painting for the kids, special appearances by TV cartoon characters, and kids can bring their stuffed animls for a checkup by a real veterinarian. There will also be a raffle and refreshments.

Don't miss it! Bring the kids! (In consideration of the shelter residents, though, please leave your beloved animal companions at home.) Thanks!

Help the Friends Of Beverly Animals

This non-profit organization hopes to create a fund to help the community's abandoned and stray animals. Their goal is to eventually have a shelter of its own. In the meantime, they foster feral cats and socialize them so they can be placed in good foster homes. (Good foster homes are needed!) Please show your support for Beverly's needy animals.

If you would like to help, please get in touch with Heidi Roberts at heidiroberts@comcast.net or call her at 978-927-4157.

Attention Dog Owners - Please Help
Please do your part to keep Beverly and her parks clean and safe for all dogs and people to enjoy together!

  • Remember to carry bags and pick up after your dog

  • Be aware that not all people enjoy dogs. Approach others with respect and keep your dog close at hand, especially if people seem fearful or disdainful. If your dog is aggressive toward people or other dogs, do not bring him in public places.

  • Do not allow your dog to roam your neighborhood. Even if your neighbors do not complain, they don't like picking up after your dog.

  • Visit your vet regularly and keep current on all preventatives and recommended vaccinations or titers, to keep your dog healthy and prevent the spread of disease.

Katrina Relief for the Animals

In light of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina, many dogs and other companion animals are in desperate need of rescue, shelter, and the opportunity to be reunited with their caregivers or find new homes.

Please see the BARC FORUM for information on animals being sent to local shelters and how you can help.
