In Memoriam

To all our friends who have gone on to wait for us at Rainbow Bridge -- we remember, we miss you terribly, and we long for the time when we are together again.

A Tribute to Kao ,

When some proud son of man returns to earth
Unknown to glory, but upheld by birth,
The sculptur'd art exhausts the art of woe,
And stoned urns record who rest below;
When all is done, upon the tomb is seen,
Not what he was, but what he should have been;
But the poor Dog, in life the firmest friend,
The first to welcome, foremost to defend;
Whose honest heart is still his master's own,
Who labours, fights, lives, breathes, for him alone
Unhonour'd falls, unnoticed all his worth,
Denied in Heaven the soul he held on earth;
While man, vain insect! hopes to be forgiven,
And claims himself sole exclusive of Heaven!
Oh, man! thou feeble tenant of an hour,
Debas'd by slavery, or corrupt by power,
Who knows thee well, must quit thee with disgust,
Degraded mass of animated dust!
By nature vile, ennobled but by name,
Each kindred brute might bid thee blush for shame.
Ye! who, perchance, behold this single Urn
Pass on--it none you wish to mourn:
To mark a Friend's remains these stones arise,
I never knew but one, and here she lies.

On this Earth
are deposited the remains of one
who possessed beauty without vanity
strength without insolence, courage without ferocity
and all the virtues of man without his vices

This praise which would be unmeaning flattery if inscribed over human ashes is but a just tribute to the memory of Kao,a dog who was Born March 23,1993 Died November 28,2004
Lord Byron

To Deacon,

Your time on this earth was a brief three years -
your loyalty and your love were fierce,
and you had such a love for adventure and peril.
We who knew you well loved you so very much.
We will miss and remember you forever.

Fly free, my beautiful friend - over the Rainbow Bridge,
where there are bright sunny skies and sandy beaches,
and Cooper waits for you to play and run all day.
He will take good care of you, I know.

We send you on your way with love,
Sue and Rich

"In the arms of the angels, fly away,
In the arms of the angels, may you find some comfort there."

Madison

In memory of sweet, Darling Madison. She passed away on Sept. 13, 2003. She will be missed by her family and her many friends.

She was a real trooper and she served her "dog community" with PRIDE.

She was every "buddy's" best friend.

Solitaire "Solly" Connors
1994 - 2003
Solly The following tribute to our dear friend Solly was printed in the Beverly Citizen on May 1, 2003:

Niall Connors pondered the loss of his longtime friend, Solitaire, this week. Normally, the passing of an Irish wolfhound would not constitute a news item. In this case, however, Solly's death simply could not be passed over.

He's the hound who penned a letter to the editor last August opposing the proposed ban on dogs at Lynch Park.

"Though getting on in years, I still like to run and cavort in the aging battle to stay fit. ... I am saddened that these pooch pleasures may have come to a close. I will miss my friends, especially grouchy Max and mellow Jack; moreover, I will miss the absolute joy in the faces of wee children at Lynch Park as they stand on their toes to try to look in my eyes..." Solly wrote at the time.

Sadly, Solly did not survive to enjoy the new city ordinance, which allows dogs at Lynch Park between 6 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day. At all other parks, dogs are allowed before 8 a.m. and after 7:30 p.m. Access is unrestricted during the winter.

"He was a great pet," said Niall. "I mean he was truly like a child to us."

In memorium, Niall and his wife, Judy, would like to say: "Through the mist of our mourning, we thank you for the constant joy you brought us."

All of us who knew Solly dearly loved this gentle giant. We all will miss him terribly.

Kishy Maria Cronin-Pride
July 3,1991 - August 7, 2002

Family, Friend, Confidant.
Everyday we think of you,
Growing up with your brothers,
When we walk in the mountains,
laugh & eat pizza (kish's fave!)
you were always there
and still are so very much in our hearts.
Love you Always! Mom & Dad.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Cooper Nardone
August 23, 1989 - May 22 2001

My name is Cooper Nardone. I crossed the rainbow bridge when I was twelve years old. I was half doberman and half coonhound. I was kind and gentle and brave. And I had a huge heart and I loved my family more than anything.

And I loved:

  • Going to the beach and to Lynch Park with my dog friends.
  • Doing "tummy up" in the fresh mowed grass at Lynch Park and scratching my back.
  • Swimming and chasing rocks when they're thrown into the water.
  • Chasing tennis balls, but I didn't always bring them back.
  • I loved my toys and daddy's dirty socks.
  • Sitting on the porch and watching the world go by.
  • Children, especially my new baby niece.
  • Going to work with dad when I was allowed.
  • Sleeping on the couch all day when mom and dad were at work.
  • Being toweled off when I came in wet.
  • Going to Maine on vacation where I could swim all day long, mom and dad were with me all day, and I got to go on lots of rides in the car.
  • Sniffing out possums under the porch; chasing squirrels.
  • Bedtime with mommy & daddy, when I got lots of hugs and "rubbles."
  • Ice cubes in the summer; doggie treats, but only Milk Bones.
  • Getting my ears rubbed.
  • I tolerated my cats.
I didn't like:
  • The vacuum cleaner.
  • Being alone all day.
  • Vegetables.
  • Getting rinsed off by the hose.
  • Going out when it rains, and thunder and lightning.
  • Other dogs hassling my cats; other dogs eating my food and playing with my toys.
  • Being on my run.
  • Real long car rides.
  • People touching my feet.
  • Being sick
You will always be in our hearts - we miss you every day. Mom, Dad & 'Delle'
